Safa Tempo Battery
made in Nepal.

One of the only domestic manufacturers of Safa Tempo battery banks. 48V and 72V sets. Local supply means fast turnaround — not a week-long wait for Kathmandu stock.

A Safa Tempo is only as good
as its battery bank.

Nepal's Safa Tempos have been running emission-free since 1993. They are one of South Asia's oldest and most successful EV fleets — but their lead-acid battery banks need replacement every 2–4 years, and every replacement is a disruption to income.

Most Safa Tempo operators in Nepal rely on imported batteries or Kathmandu-based suppliers. That means long waits, freight costs, and no local technical support when a cell fails. For operators in Biratnagar, Dharan, Rajbiraj, and the Eastern Terai, the supply chain was broken before it started.

Kulayan Battery Industries manufactures Safa Tempo battery banks at Khanar-6, Sunsari — 20 km from Biratnagar. We supply directly to operators and through our 50+ dealer network. Same-week replacement. Local technical support. No freight premium.

Built for Nepal's
Safa Tempo fleet.

48V Battery Bank

Four 12V tubular cells wired in series. Standard for older Safa Tempo models. Designed for deep-cycle daily use — 200+ full cycles before significant capacity loss under normal operating conditions.

72V Battery Bank

Six 12V tubular cells in series. Required for newer Safa Tempo variants and higher-capacity e-tempo models. Heavier but delivers longer range per charge in Terai flatland routes.

Tubular Plate Technology

Tubular plates handle deeper discharge cycles better than flat-plate alternatives. For Safa Tempo operators running 10–12 hours per day, tubular technology is the only viable choice.

Terai-Tuned Electrolyte

Our cells are filled and charged for Eastern Nepal's temperature range — hot Terai summers, monsoon humidity. Not a generic international formula repackaged for Nepal.

Bulk Fleet Supply

Running a fleet of Safa Tempos? We supply directly to operators with 5+ vehicles at fleet pricing. Contact us for bulk quotes with same-week dispatch from Khanar.

Lithium-Ion (Upcoming)

48V lithium-ion packs for Safa Tempos are under development. Lighter weight, longer lifespan, faster charging. Same Kulayan dealer network from day one.

Local supply saves more
than the sticker price.

A Safa Tempo sitting idle costs a driver income. When we compare the full cost of a Kulayan battery bank against an imported equivalent, the Kulayan option is almost always cheaper over a 3-year cycle.

Check Water Monthly

Tubular flooded cells consume water through electrolysis. Check electrolyte level monthly and top up with distilled water only — never tap water. Low electrolyte dries out plates and halves battery life.

Charge Fully After Every Shift

Never store a partially charged bank overnight. Partial charge leads to sulphation — crystal build-up on plates that permanently reduces capacity. Plug in after your last run of the day.

Clean Terminals Quarterly

Corrosion on battery terminals increases resistance and reduces charging efficiency. Clean with a wire brush and baking soda solution. Apply petroleum jelly to prevent re-oxidation.

Equalisation Charge (Monthly)

Run a controlled overcharge monthly to equalise cell voltages across the bank. This dissolves sulphation and balances cells. Ask your Kulayan dealer to show you the correct procedure for your charger model.

Check All Cell Voltages

One weak cell can drag down the entire bank. Check individual cell voltages every 6 months. A cell reading more than 0.2V below its neighbours should be replaced before it kills the rest.

Replace the Bank Together

Mixing old and new cells in the same bank degrades the new cells rapidly. When it is time to replace, replace all cells in the bank at once — not one at a time. It is cheaper over a 3-year cycle.

03

Dealer service, not just sales.

Every authorised Kulayan dealer is a trained service point. When a cell fails mid-bank, you do not drive to Biratnagar — your local dealer handles it. Warranty included.

04

ISO certified quality.

ISO 9001 quality management, ISO 14001 environmental management, IEC, and GPSD certifications. Ask to see the certificate numbers at any Kulayan dealer point.
